Industry sources noted that AMD has validated its 65nm CPU production at Singapore-based foundry Chartered Semiconductor and volume production of AMD's 65nm CPU lineup at Chartered is slated for the first half of 2007.

Although AMD appears to be lagging behind its rival on 65nm deployment, the company is fully gearing up for 65nm production and Chartered should play a critical role in supporting AMD's goal to have 90% of its CPU lineup advance to 65nm production in 2007.

Chartered has seen its star rise this year for advanced node production, thanks to its extended partnership with AMD on 65nm, graphics chips orders from Nvidia and communication chip orders from Qualcomm.
