ATI's Radeon X1950 Pro coming to AGP
PCI Express has been the standard graphics interface on new AMD and Intel motherboards for close to two years, but demand for AGP graphics cards is apparently strong enough to warrant a version of ATI's new Radeon X1950 Pro for AGP, X-bit labs reports. The site says GeCube is cooking up such a card, and that other ATI partners may very well join in because ATI is providing a reference design for the card.
Some online retailers over in Germany are already taking orders for a GeCube Radeon X1950 Pro with 256MB of DDR3 memory, dual DVI outputs, and HDTV out. The card is priced at €223.74, which is equivalent to around $242 if you strip out Germany's 16% Mehrwertsteuer tax. $242 is a few bucks above the $199 list price for the PCIe Radeon X1950 Pro. However, judging by results from our price search engine, it's substantially lower than what retailers currently charge for PCIe X1950 Pros in the U.S. Thanks to TR reader Chris for the tip.
