DailyTech has received information on AMD’s upcoming October 30th, 2006 price drops. The price drops affect AMD’s server and workstation Opteron products for Socket 940, 939, AM2 and 1207 platforms. AMD Opteron 800 series models 870, 875, 880 and 885 receive hefty 20-30% price cuts. Opteron 800 series HE models 860 HE, 865 HE, 870 HE and 875 HE receive similar 20-30% price drops—with similar pricing as non-HE models. Pricing for models 848 HE, 850, 850 HE, 852, 854, 856 and 865 will remain the same before and after October 30th, 2006.

AMD’s 2P server and workstation Opteron 200 series will receive price cuts as well. The price cuts include models 250, 252, 254, 256, 265, 270, 275, 280 and 285. These models receive price cuts varying from 19-47%. Opteron 200 series HE models will receive price cuts of 17-47%. This includes Opteron HE models 248 HE, 250 HE, 260 HE, 265 HE, 270 HE and 275 HE. Opteron models 246, 248 and 246 HE are unaffected by the upcoming October 30th, 2006 price cuts.

Socket 939 Opteron 100 series receive similar price cuts in the range of 19-46%. The complete Opteron 100 series including models 144, 146, 148, 150, 152, 154, 156, 165, 170, 175, 180 and 185 will receive price cuts at the end of the month.

This includes Opteron 8000 series models 8212 HE, 8214 HE, 8216 HE, 8212, 8214, 8216, 8218, 8220 SE, Opteron 2000 series models 2210 HE, 2212 HE, 2214 HE, 2216 HE, 2210, 2212, 2214, 2216, 2218 and 2220 SE for socket F. Socket AM2 Opteron’s models 1210, 1212, 1214, 1216, 1218 and 1220 SE are also affected. The price cuts for AMD’s revision F product lineup vary from 18-45%.
